Rivian San Francisco has introduced a new flagship space. Centrally located in Hayes Valley, the San Francisco flagship space is a restored auto body shop that has been in the neighborhood since the 1920s. This location allowed it to join the fabric of the neighborhood, with unique shops, cafes, eateries, green space, and nearby freeway access, all in one spot. It is a living example of its mission and the perfect backdrop to showcase its products. Rivian preserved the building to reflect the charm of the neighborhood and history of the site, while adding unique touches that blend the past and future of automotive innovation.
The architectural character of the building, from its old factory windows to its brick and timber structure, reflects its long-standing function as an auto-garage. The back of the building was once covered with street art which was repurposed as artwork in the space. Rivian purposefully chose an open concept and big windows to mirror the openness of the Hayes Valley neighborhood and Patricia’s Green. The tree-lined pedestrian-friendly nature of Linden Alley drove us to create bi-folding doors, allowing it to create an open indoor/outdoor experience. Inside, the artwork, signage, upholstery, and custom furniture come from local artists.
Handmade cushions and re – upholstered vintage pieces add warmth and character, making the space feel inviting and rooted in the community.
